Meet Kedrick Scribner, Access & Community Engagement Coordinator
“You will find a place [at FPCTA]. I mean I came all the way — 700 something miles away — and found my place here.”
Kedrick Scribner, originally from the vibrant city of Baltimore, Maryland, moved to the welcoming community of Huntsville in 2023. Since his arrival, he has dedicated himself to his education and successfully completed a degree at Alabama A&M University. During his time at the university, he became deeply involved with the Fantast Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy (FPCTA), a dynamic organization focused on nurturing young talent in the performing arts. Kedrick had the opportunity to participate in the partnership Theater for Young Audiences (TYA) production of William Shakespeare’s enchanting comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where he brought the character of Peter Quince to life. This experience ignited a passion for theater within him, and he quickly recognized the profound impact FPCTA could have, not just on his own artistic journey, but also on the children in the local community. In addition to his acting endeavors, Kedrick took on a part-time role running concessions during the mainstage productions. This position offered him a unique vantage point to witness firsthand the joy and excitement that the theater brought to families and young audiences. As he served snacks and beverages, he began to see the magic of FPCTA unfold, realizing that this vibrant arts organization was not just about performances, but also about creating memorable experiences for children and inspiring the next generation of performers and dreamers.
Kedrick currently serves as the Access Community and Engagement Coordinator at FPCTA, where he is passionately committed to enhancing the organization's scholarship program. His primary objective in this role is to broaden access to the arts for children and families who typically lack such opportunities. Recognizing the diverse families within the FPCTA community, Kedrick has been instrumental in advocating for expanding the scholarship program, believing strongly in the transformative power of arts education. His journey with FPCTA has allowed him to appreciate the unique qualities that make the organization special, which he attributes to the unwavering dedication and compassion of its staff and volunteers. Through his experiences, Kedrick has come to realize not only the profound impact of FPCTA's offerings but also his own vital role in bringing artistic magic to those in need.
