Student Matinees
FPCTA is thrilled to offer daytime performances of our Mainstage Productions and Theater for Young Audiences series as a field trip destination for your school or cohort! Student matinees are reservation ONLY.
Student matinees are a fantastic opportunity to introduce your students to the magic of theater. Study guides are provided for each mainstage performance. Study guides include grade-appropriate activities that meet the Alabama Teaching Core Standards. These materials are sent out about 2 weeks before your selected performance date.

Field Trip reservations will open on a rolling schedule. We are now accepting bookings for September and October field trips. We will be accepting December field trip requests on August 1, and Spring Semester field trip requests beginning on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

With fast paced staging, playful music, and upbeat choreography, this 45-minute whirlwind comedy keeps every minute sparkling. Perfect as a first-time Shakespeare field trip, this new Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production in partnership with Alabama A&M University invites middle schoolers to laugh, learn, and explore classic storytelling in Shakespeare’s most magical literary work!

SYNOPSIS: Huntsville’s most beloved family holiday tradition returns to the Fantasy Playhouse stage for the 35th year this December! Take a trip in time through the past, present, and future with the miserly Mr. Scrooge, the haunting Christmas Spirits, and all the whimsical characters of London town. This fresh adaptation returns by popular demand, penned by Huntsville local and Fantasy Kid herself, Cherie Evans. With more theater magic than ever before, this annual Charles Dickens holiday tale is an inspiration to keep Christmas in our hearts all year long.

SYNOPSIS: In this new adaptation, written by Stephen Tyler-Davis, Charles Dickens’ classic story takes on a new life with over-the-top characters, family-friendly laughs, puppets, and live foley sound effects. The nasty, bitter Scrooge goes on a magical journey to discover the true meaning behind Christmas through meeting the unconventional spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. With actors playing multiple roles and creating the set and scenery with their bodies, this show is a great introduction to the magic of theatre.

Crafted by guest artist Sifiso Mabena alongside students from Alabama A&M University, this new play celebrates and educates with African folklore, music, and dance.
