These productions are created with young audiences in mind, introducing them to the joys of theatre through bite-sized, but still impactful, productions that leave them wanting more! These performances are perfect for first-time theater goers or young theater enthusiasts!

    Adventure through a moonlit forest full of magic and mischief in the enchanted hilarity of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream! With fast-paced staging, playful music, and upbeat choreography, this 45-minute whirlwind comedy keeps every minute sparkling. Perfect as a first-time Shakespeare field trip, this new Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production in partnership with Alabama A&M University invites middle schoolers to laugh, learn, and explore classic storytelling in Shakespeare’s most magical literary work!

A Not So Scary
Christmas Carol

  • Performed by FPCTA’s Lab 87: Teen Acting Conservatory and directed by Interim Education Director, Kailey Burkhardt.

    In this new adaptation, written by Stephen Tyler-Davis, Charles Dickens’ classic story takes on a new life with over-the-top characters, family-friendly laughs, puppets, and live foley sound effects. The nasty, bitter Scrooge goes on a magical journey to discover the true meaning behind Christmas through meeting the unconventional spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. With actors playing multiple roles and creating the set and scenery with their bodies, this show is a great introduction to the magic of theatre.

Anansi the Spider

  • Embark on a vibrant jungle adventure with Anansi the Spider, a 45-minute spinning web of creativity, teamwork, wisdom, and resilience! The tall tales of this mischievous spider boast of leopards, snakes, turtles, and wild birds, all brought to life using stunning life-size puppetry and inspired storytelling. Crafted by guest artist Sifiso Mabena alongside students from Alabama A&M University, this new play celebrates and educates with African folklore, music, and dance.

A Pirates’ Guide to Financial Literacy, where a rag-tag crew of buccaneers turns budgeting, saving, and spending into a swashbuckling quest. With interactive storytelling, piratey puns, catchy shanties, and rollicking dance, this 45-minute production transforms core math and literacy lessons into buried-treasure fun. Set sail with the crew to master your very own map of money—no parrot required!
