Classes

Classes take place at Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater and Academy: located at 3320 SW Triana Blvd, Huntsville, AL 35805

You can find our class page HERE. Once on this page, you will see a link to our registration site, ACTIVE Network. Find the class you want to take and click “Add to Cart”. Active will ask you to log in or create an account to register. Once you fill out the registration forms, you pay via credit card.

If a class is full, you will see “Waitlist Only” under the class on Active. If a class has a waitlist, we encourage you to sign up. If a student drops or transfers, or the class is expanded, you will be emailed a link to register. You will have 24 hours to register before the spot is given to the next in line.

Aging up is decided on a case-by-case basis by Education Staff depending on the level of class and prior experience. Generally, we follow the policy that if your student’s birthday falls within the semester that the class is taking place, we will consider aging up.

If your student is sick or cannot attend class for any reason, please inform staff ASAP. We value having your student in class and appreciate the advance notice. Email: education@fantasyplayhouse.com

Yes, we offer classes specifically for homeschooled students. These classes are Tuesday mornings, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. We offer both an Acting and Improv class and a Musical Theater Class. We will provide transcript verification if requested.

FPCTA will cancel classes based on both Huntsville City Schools. If the district cancels classes or after school activities, then FPCTA will cancel classes. We will post cancellations on our Facebook page and website. FPCTA does not make phone calls of cancellations due to inclement weather. Due to the nature of our classes, we do not offer make-up classes.

Class transfers are available upon request and dependant on availability. Participant cancellations made more than 2 weeks prior to the start of class/camp will receive a full refund less a 10% processing fee, or a full class credit to be used later. Participants who cancel less than 2 weeks prior to the start of class/camp can receive a 50% refund or a full class credit to be used later. Once classes have begun, transfers are subject to availability and cancellations will result in a class credit. FPCTA reserves the right to cancel a class/camp due to insufficient enrollment. In the event FPCTA cancels a class, you will receive a full refund.

Fantasy Playhouse is dedicated to making theater arts education accessible and equitable for all! Tuition assistance applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed by our Education and Outreach teams. A limited number of full and partial scholarships will be awarded based on need and merit for FPCTA's upcoming programs. Please note that tuition assistance is not guaranteed, but we strive to make all of our programs as accessible to all. Families are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Payment plans are available upon request. All balances must be paid by the end of the semester in order to enroll in future camps. Click HERE for more information.

Students should bring a water bottle, comfortable clothing, shoes they can move in, and any provided class materials.

No devices are allowed out during classes. This includes smartwatches, headphones, and tablets. etc.

For your child's safety and security, we do not allow families to attend class with their child during the session because it is distracting and hinders the learning process. The class time belongs to our students. Parents are invited to stay in the lobby if they wish to remain nearby for their student.

LOBBY OPENS FOR ALL CLASSES: 3:30 pm
Parking: Families are free to park in either side lot. If no parking is available in either lot, park across the street at University Pickers.
FIRST DAY: On the first day of classes, families should park and walk their students to the front of the building on Triana Blvd. Enter through the doors under the covered awning. Parents should enter the lobby with students and check in with FPCTA Staff in purple shirts. Students and parents will be directed to their students' classroom to check in.
DROP OFF: After the first day, students can be sent back to class independently. Students CANNOT be left in the lobby unaccompanied by an adult. If students are dropped off earlier than 5 minutes before class, they need to sit with their parents until they are called back. We recommend that families walk younger students to the lobby door, as Triana is a busy road.
CHECK-OUT: At your students’ dismissal time, families should park and walk to the front of the building on Triana Blvd.
For students under the age of 8, teachers will dismiss students one at a time to parents/guardians who are on the Authorized Pick Up List.
For students Ages 8 and up, students will be brought to the lobby for pick up.
Students of any age cannot leave the building without a parent or guardian. Please walk up to the lobby for pick-up.
Students must be picked up promptly at the end of class sessions. If late arrivals extend beyond 5 minutes, additional fees may be assessed.

Please call to let us know if you are running a few minutes late. Students MUST be picked up promptly at the end of their class time. Excessive late pick-ups may result in your child being dismissed from the class for the semester, with no refund granted. For the safety of our students, Fantasy staff are not allowed to leave students unattended.

We will never require families to purchase anything for classes. All costumes will be provided. If students would like to bring something from home for their final performance, check with the teacher first.

Tickets are not required for Educational Programming! Information about performance for specific classes will be sent out
Camps

Fall Break Camp, Spring Break Camp, and Summer Camp are full day from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. (Before and after care are available at an additional cost.

Students should pack a peanut/tree-nut-free snack, a peanut/tree-nut-free lunch, and a refillable water bottle. Students should not bring toys or electronic devices to camp.

Students are divided into age-appropriate groups based on the number of registrations.
Ages 3-4, Ages 5-6; Ages 7-8; Ages 9-10; Ages 11+
These groups are subject to change based on registrations, but all groups will remain age-appropriate.

Fantasy Playhouse does not provide food; parents must pack all food. Full Day Camps: Two meal breaks are scheduled each day. Please send lunch, snack, and drinks for your child each day. There are several refillable water stations. Please pack a refillable water bottle for your student. No peanut/tree nut products, please. Classes and camps at Fantasy Playhouse are a nut-free zone. As we often have several students with severe food allergies, we ask that food not be shared. Siblings’ lunch/snacks should be packed separately.

We offer before and after care for the following camps: Fall Break Camp, Spring Break Camp, and Summer Camp. FPCTA staff provide these services in our camp environment. Students can participate in relaxed activities, age-appropriate movies, and arts & crafts. They may also bring a book or a gaming device to enjoy during this time. Payment is due in full prior to the day of care. Refunds: If you would like to pick your child up early, you are welcome to do so. However, we do not offer refunds for unused time. A fee will be assessed for late pick-ups. Snacks: FPCTA does not provide food or drink. Please provide additional peanut-free/tree-nut-free snacks and drinks for After Care.

Fantasy Playhouse camps and classes are a device-free zone. Students cannot be on personal devices for any reason. If students need to contact parents, they should let a teacher know, and we will call home.

On the first day of camp, families should park in the side lots and walk their students to the front of the building on Triana Blvd. Enter through the doors under the covered awning. Parents should enter the lobby with students, and check-in with FPCTA Staff in purple shirts at designated tables. After checking in, students will be escorted back to their classroom.
Tuesday - Friday, families can utilize the car line. For the Car Line enter the North Lot and follow the cones to drop students with staff. Staff will begin the car line at 8:40 AM. If parents wish to park and walk students inside, please park in the South Lot.
Teachers are trained to only dismiss students to parents/guardians that are on the Authorized Pick Up List. Parents will sign their student out before pick up. If anyone who is not on the list tries to check out a child, the Primary Parent/Guardian will have to provide verbal permission to either the Education Director or Associate Education Director before the child will be dismissed. This list can be updated at any time during the camp.

Everyone is free to attend! No tickets necessary. Parents/guests will be seated in the theater 5-10 minutes before the performance. After the performance students will get a group photo, and then will be released to their parents.
