Meet Akshay Ahuja - FPCTA Volunteer
“The way I would describe Fantasy Playhouse, is a place where dreams come true.”
Akshay has built a life that uniquely bridges the worlds of science, public service, and the performing arts, guided by a deep belief in community, creativity, and personal growth. He serves as a STEM Development Coordinator for a government agency located on Redstone Arsenal, where he focuses on fostering innovation, education, and opportunity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In this role, he works to connect individuals with resources and pathways that empower them to thrive in technical fields, reflecting his commitment to building a stronger, more capable future workforce.
Outside of the professional work world, Akshay has become a dedicated and influential member of the Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy community. His journey with FPCTA began in 2018, inspired by a personal tradition he cherished while living in Washington, D.C., attending local productions of A Christmas Carol in the D.C. community. Wanting to continue that tradition after relocating to Huntsville, he sought out a local production and discovered FPCTA. What began as a simple desire to experience a beloved holiday story quickly evolved into something much more meaningful. Encouraged to take a leap, Akshay auditioned for FPCTA’s annual production of A Christmas Carol and was cast as the Ghost of Christmas Present. This experience marked the beginning of his deeper involvement with the organization and spurred a lasting drive to become more engaged in FPCTA. Following that production, he expanded his contributions beyond the stage, eventually serving on the FPCTA board, where he helped advance the organization’s mission and growth.
Akshay continues to play an important role within FPCTA as both a patron and an advocate. He is a consistent supporter who attends performances regularly, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the theater’s success and the young performers it serves. In addition, he has taken on a focused role as an advocate for safety improvements, working to ensure that FPCTA remains a secure and supportive environment for all participants. His efforts reflect a thoughtful understanding that creativity flourishes best when people feel safe, respected, and valued. At the heart of Akshay’s involvement is a genuine belief in the transformative power of theater. He sees FPCTA as more than just a place to perform; it is a space where dreams are discovered. He strongly believes that the skills developed through theater: confidence, collaboration, communication, and adaptability, extend far beyond the stage and are essential in all areas of life, including STEM fields and professional environments. Through his dual commitment to STEM development and the arts, Akshay exemplifies the idea that analytical and creative pursuits are not separate paths, but complementary forces. His work and volunteerism reflect the vision of success that FPCTA’s mission strives to achieve for its community, one that values imagination as much as innovation, and community as much as achievement.
